BASIC FLOWER
1.5 inches
Size varies with hook and wool used
Suggest hook size US ‘G’ – 4.00 mm
Creating center of flower [color 1]
- Chain 3
- Join with ss to form a ring
- Chain 1
- Work 6 sc in ring
- Join with ss to first sc
- Fasten off
Creating petals of flower [color 2]
- Join new color with ss in any sc
- Chain 1, turn
- Sc in the ss to join new color
A single petal: each petal is created in one sc in the ring
- ch 2
- *yo, insert hook, yo, draw up one loop, yo, draw thru 2 loops *[leaves 2 loops on hook]
- repeat * to * 2 additional times, each time this leaves another loop on your hook
- yo, draw thru all loops on hook
- chain 2
- sc in next stitch[you have now created one petal]
Repeat each petal in each sc around the centre
- This will give you 6 petals on your flower
- Join ss to first sc
- Fasten off
CAT
Body:
- Chain 2
- 6 sc in 2nd chain from hook
- 2 sc in each sc around [12 sc]
- *2 sc in next sc
- 1 sc in next sc
- repeat from * around
- do not break off
Tail
- chain 6
- sc in 2nd chain from hook
- ski 1 chain
- sc in next chain
- dc in next 2 chain
- skip 2 sc on body
- slip stitch into next sc
- break off
Head:
- Work as for body for 2 rounds, until you have th e 12 sc
- Do not break off
Ears:
- Chain 3
- Sc in 2nd chain from hook
- Dc in next chain
- Skip 2 sc on head
- Sc in next 2 sc
- Chain 3 and make the opposite ear
- Sl st to next sc
- Do not break off
Attach head to body:
- Sc around the side of the head
- Join the body by sc in the next sc but include a stitch from the top of the body as well
- Do this for 2 sc
- Continue to sc around the other side of the head
- Fasten off when you reach the ear.
HEART
Hook size: G
Size: about 2” at the widest point. You can use a smaller hook and thread to make a tiny heart
- Row 1 – Chain 2
- Row 2 – 2 sc in the 2nd chain from the hook, chain 1, turn
- Row 3 – 2 sc in each st; chain 1 turn
- Row 4 – 2 sc in 1 stitch, 1 sc in each of the next 2 stitches, 2 sc in the last stitch, chain 1 , turn
- Row 5 and 6 – Work a sc in each stitch in the row, chain 1, turn
- Row 7 – Slip stitch in the 1st stitich, 5 dc in the next stitch, sl st in the 4th stitch, 5 dc in the 5th stitch, sl st in the 6th stitich, chain 1, do not turn
Edging
- Sc in the end of each row to the point of your heart
- 3 sc in the point
- Sc in the end of each row to the beginning of the 5 dc in the top of the heart
- * 1 sc in the 1st 2 stitches, 3 sc in the centre stitch, 1 sc in the next 2 sts*
- Slip stitch in the space between the shells
- Repeat from * to *
- Slip stitch to join to the 1 sc in the border
- Fasten off
- Weave in ends.
BUTTERFLY
Body
- Chain 5
- Sc down the back side of the chain [4 sc]
- Skip the first chain
- Turn corner at the end of the chain, do 3 sc in the last stitch
- Sc in the top side of the chain [4 sc]
- Turn the bottom corner, do 3 sc in the bottom stitch
Bottom Wing
- In the next stitch, group together, sc, hdc, dc, dc, hdc, sc
- sc in next stitch
Top Wing
- In the next stitch, group together, sc, hdc, dc, tr, tr, dc, hdc, sc
- sc in next stitch
Head
- sc in the next stitch
- ss in the next stitch
Top Wing
- In the next stitch, group together, sc, hdc, dc, tr, tr, dc, hdc, sc
- sc in next stitch
Bottom Wing
- In the next stitch, group together, sc, hdc, dc, dc, hdc, sc
- sc in next stitch
Finish

- Chain 3
- ss to first chain to create a small circle
- 4 sc in circle
- 2 sc in each sc [makes 8 sc]
with black yarn
- add black in last sc of previous row
- sc in each stitch in round
- sc in each stitch in round
with yellow yarn
- sc in each stitch in round
- sc in each stitch in round
with black yarn
- sc in each stitch in round
- sc in each stitch in round

- work two sc together for the round
- fasten off
Wings
with white yarn
- flatten your body so best side is towards you
- attach yarn with ss into the first stitch of the black row for the head
- for the smaller wing, in the next stitch work together, sc, hdc, dc, hdc, sc
- ss in next stitch
- for the larger wing, in the next stitch work together, sc, hdc, dc, tr, tr, dc, hdc, sc
- ss in next stitch
- fasten off
- weave in wool ends
LEAF
- Chain 6
- ss in 2nd chain from the hook

FLOWER BUD
- Chain 3
- join with ss to first chain to form a ring

STAR
